On Thursday the 2nd of February 2017, our school was invited by Derry Long, Principal of Portumna Community School to attend the Connacht Rugby Team coming to Portumna and John Muldoon’s role as captain in winning the Pro 12.
As John was a past pupil of Gortanumera NS we were treated like royalty. Seats were reserved for us in the front rows. We really enjoyed the experience of meeting Pat Lam, John Muldoon and the Connacht Team.
John Muldoon spoke about Gortanumera and we felt very proud not only because he is from Gortanumera but that he acknowledged us.
Ms Ryan was presented with a picture of John Muldoon, Joe Canning, Ollie Canning and Damien Hayes which highlighted the great love of sport we as students have in the school.
It is a day we will never forget.
